This Privacy Policy explains how NatGasChart.com ("we", "our", "us", "the site") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit the site. It also describes the choices you have over how your information is used and how you can exercise them. By using NatGasChart.com you agree to the practices described here.
Who we are
NatGasChart.com is an independent natural-gas market data and analysis website. The operator is the owner of the natgaschart.com domain. The operating jurisdiction for data-protection purposes is [Jurisdiction]. The email address for privacy enquiries is privacy@natgaschart.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the site, understand how it is used, and display advertising.
- Information you give us directly. If you email us — for example via contact@natgaschart.com — we receive the email address you send from and the content of your message. There is no contact form, account system, newsletter, or paid product on the site, so we do not collect names, passwords, payment details, or profile information.
- Technical information collected automatically. When you visit a page, our hosting provider and analytics tools record standard server log data: IP address (which can approximate your country or city), user-agent string (browser and operating system), referring URL, the pages you view, and timestamps. We use this to keep the site working, detect abuse, and understand aggregate traffic patterns.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We and selected third parties set cookies, local storage entries, and similar identifiers on your device. These are used for analytics, for serving advertising, and for basic site functionality. See the Cookie Policy for the categories in use and how to control them.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, secure, and maintain the site;
- Measure how readers find and use content (which articles are read, how visitors navigate the charts, which devices they use);
- Respond to email enquiries and corrections;
- Display advertising, including personalised and non-personalised ads served through third-party networks;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of the Terms of Service;
- Comply with legal obligations where they apply.
Advertising and Google AdSense
NatGasChart.com uses Google AdSense and may work with other Google-certified advertising vendors to display ads on the site. AdSense allows Google and its partners to serve ads to users based on their prior visits to this and other websites.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
- Google's use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Users can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU, youronlinechoices.com.
- For general information on how Google uses data from sites and apps that use its services, see Google's partner-sites policy.
We do not sell readers' personal information to advertisers, and we do not provide advertisers with direct access to our server logs. Advertising cookies are controlled by the advertising vendors themselves under their own privacy policies.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (tag ID visible in the page source) to understand aggregate site usage. Google Analytics sets cookies that allow it to distinguish unique visitors and pageviews. The information sent to Google includes your IP address (which Google truncates in some regions for privacy), the page visited, and a random identifier. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Third-party services and embedded content
Several parts of the site rely on third parties. When you load a page that uses these services, the service provider may receive information about your visit and set its own cookies.
- TradingView — all live charts and market widgets on the site are rendered by TradingView. TradingView's handling of user data is covered by its privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — typography is loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the request metadata (IP address, user-agent) when the fonts load.
- Google AdSense, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager — described above; governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not control the data practices of these providers. Please review their privacy notices for details.
Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interests for operating and securing the site, analysing aggregate traffic, and displaying non-personalised advertising.
- Consent for personalised advertising and any non-essential cookies, where your jurisdiction requires it. Consent can be withdrawn at any time via your browser cookie controls or the opt-out links above.
- Legal obligation where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over personal data we hold about you:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion — request deletion of personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Objection and restriction — object to, or restrict, certain types of processing.
- Portability — receive your personal data in a portable format where technically feasible.
- Opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (applicable under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA). NatGasChart.com does not sell personal information in the ordinary sense; however, the use of third-party advertising cookies may be treated as "sharing" under California law. California residents may opt out of this sharing using the Google ad settings link above or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in their browser, which we honour as a Do-Not-Sell / Do-Not-Share request.
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been infringed.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@natgaschart.com with enough information for us to identify the relevant data (for example, the email address you contacted us from).
Retention
Server and analytics logs are retained for as long as needed to operate and secure the site, typically no longer than 26 months for Google Analytics data under default settings. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to respond to your message and keep a record of the enquiry, after which it is deleted on a rolling basis. Advertising vendors retain cookie and ad-interaction data under their own retention policies.
Data transfers
Because our analytics and advertising partners are based in the United States and elsewhere, information we collect may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one you are in. These partners maintain their own safeguards for international data transfers (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses under the GDPR). By using the site, you acknowledge that these transfers may take place.
Children's privacy
NatGasChart.com is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information processed on the site, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on server logs. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be announced more visibly — for example, in a banner at the top of the site for a short period — where that is appropriate.
